Sentimental Picture

The leaves are falling heavily this week around my world. Everything has lost it's color, turning a dull dead memory of the coloring contest I consider fall. I've been a bit mesmerized watching these leaves drift to the ground. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, but my computer looks out a large window and they are hard to ignore.

I think I've wrote down about 20 metaphors for falling leaves. The one that is floating through my thoughts today, is in the way photographs are like the leaves on a persons tree of life. My tree is fat full of photographs to illustrate where I've come from, what I've done, and in a real way, mirrors what I am all about..............

The way I see it, there are four ways to capture history, past, memories and a persons life in a way others can also examine it. The first and foremost is through writing. I got that one down pat. The second way is through video, and I'm a complete failure in that department, I have a video camera and rarely, if ever, use it.  Third is through telling stories, campfire story, in person, to people who will actually listen and remember......... And Lastly, through ... photographs.

Photography compliments my nostalgic characteristics.

I'm a sentimental fool. There is no use in denying that. So for a sentimental heart such as mine, writing and photography makes my world go round and round, in a good way. I also love to view other peoples photo's, invite me over to your house and you'll likely have to pull out a photobook for me to examine. It's my thang. I love the visual poetry aspect to memories............

I discovered this little RockYou website via pilfering the link off someone's journal. Damned if I can remember who's journal it was either.......sorry :o) It was interesting going through my files and files of photographs compiling some of my favorites. When I watched the finished product I was happy with the history I've captured. I believe in the notion that a snapshot really can be worth a thousand words. I like to think my snapshots tell a story of someone who spends an enormous amount of time outside and surrounded by children.

If you have a vault of digital photo's saved on your computer I would love to see other people's photo history. A bit like me coming over for a visit, parking my butt on your sofa and requesting a photo album to stroll through. If you do the RockYou thang, please let me know and leave me a link to your journal so I can come watch a piece of your history~~~

All my photos are goofy. Really there's no need to make a show about it. However, I think I now have a hankering to go fishing. Or I have a crush on you. I haven't decided. hahaha!

Great pics. Really cool how that display works.

I couldn't help but notice, I mean, not that I was looking, becuase that would be uhhhhh, undignified, but, like I said, couldn't help but notice, the golf pro didn't know what he was talking about, there's nothing lacking. ;)

So, having said that, if I remember correctly, you own your own successful business, you write like Tolstoy, you push the envelope with mountain biking etal, you are in many ways a perfectionist, add to that you don't want people to need you. You must intimadate the hell out of guys. One guy in all those pics, daddy. I mean, girl power is cool and all but....not to be insensetive, but that must suck at least a bit. Lot of flaccid handshakes and lowering of eyes?

Rebecca,
Great photos!  As I look at your photos, I am wondering if you were ing the campsite next to us.  LOL   I am much like you, I love to take pictures.  I have plastic bins full of pictures.  I have been scanning, scanning and scanning most of the good ones.  I go through the the bins once every six months, usually looking for something I wish to scan.  You started out talking about the end of fall.  I have been thinking about describing the cool chill in the mountain air and the warm heat generated by the wood burning stove.
Let me know if you would like to see my entire photobucket album  (I know, it's a loaded question).
Smiles, David

Great pics and the effects really showed them off well.  Your only losing your leaves now?  I figured you being farther north they would be gone.  I know they were gone already in NY.  ~ Mike

Your photo slide show is beautiful (as are you and your girls)!   I'm going to check out the link you provided.  I have over 60 photos in my profile, but this is so wonderful!

I'm ready for snow.  Fall has fallen, and it's time for a cool change...

Take care, and Happy Thanksgiving!

This was awesome - I love your slide show.  It reminded me there is another world out there so different from what I've come to know.  I like the life depicted in your photographs.  Makes me want to be where you are & doing those things with my boy.  You only live once, right???  Getting bogged down with the day to day makes you forget that.  Thanks for reminding me.

Gosh you have an absolutely gorgeous family, you included.  I love the pictures and the way you arranged them, it seemed more than a slide show..I think I might like to try that site too...if I'm successful I'll email you.  Have A Happy Thanksgiving...Sandi

Love your pictures, wish I could go on adventures like you do.

You make me want to do this. Our family hasn't really been big on pictures. Maybe we should start taking more. When my nephew was born I took more pictures than his mom did. She was kind of mad at me for that. LOL

I will have to get back to you on this when I get some kind of idea of what I want to do.

I'm a sentimental fool too. I LOVE taking pictures and writing about everything that happens to me.. I can't help it, I want to remember everything when I'm a little old lady rocking back and forth in a rocking chair.

Take care!

I love Rockyou!  Slide.com is decent too.  I'm not crafty when it comes to making still collages or layouts, so these sites have made me look like I know what I'm doing!  Great pics!

I just loved your "Rock you" file and when I get enough photos with my new (to me) digital camera I received for Christmas, I am going to make one. That country is so beautiful in the background.  This collection lifted my spirits. It was just georgous.  I took five photos today and posted them in my journal.  I can't wait to photograph Doc in his new black pin stripe shirt I got him for Xmas.  With black wrangler pants, to wear with his black hat.   Doc loves colorful clothes, the wilder the better.  Best clothes model I ever saw.  I am going to look forward to this, and I must get some of me in some of my 35 hat collection!  You and your children are lovely models.  I think photos tell so many stories.  Gerry
