Now I just have to get through these teenage moments of the dreaded 10,000's.....If we make it to 20,000 without any jail time, hospital visits, tos violations, and anything else that can be typically associated with the 10 through 20 zone............Onward and wayward, here we go, lets see what else wants to grace these entries. Those teenage years are unpredictable, you never know what might emerge!
I'm all grown up now.
I turned 33 in reality age this month.
I gained at least 2 pounds and received 10 more gray hairs on my head.
There are 3 more laugh lines around my eyes, those are good though.
My journal turned 10,000 hits this month.
Minus the 9,000 hits I personally made, it's good to know people come by for a visit.
Thank you everyone!
And to Judith, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall/jtuwliens I'm most happy it was you who added that defining 10,000th hit. Your journal brings me such joy. I never leave your pages without a smile, a touch of inspiration and occasionally doing alittle Rebecca Happy Dance. I recommend everyone go discover the gift of her beautiful writing, inspiring entries, and fabulous humor.
So for you, Judith, I offer one fine virtual Cuisinart Toaster for being my 10,000th visitor.
May it bring you years of joy and perfectly toasted virtual bagels.

Wow-You must be a pretty hot shit because you started your journal a few weeks after mine, remember? You are popular among us journalers! Glad your trip went went! The bugs are horrible here too!! My poor guys are all eaten up!! Regarding the snake: As I said to a friend of mine the other day,"You'd be amazed at what you will do for your child!" EEEEEkkkkkk!

Noisy Ballroom. Lots of acquainting going on. Good food on the buffet. Mmmm, corn, my favorite. A dessert bar with ice cream and a nice selection of the finest chocolates made by man. Dancing later.
Silver spoon clanging against a water glass.
The room hushes.
Rebecca approaches the podium, now stands behind the lectern, microphone on.
"Thank you all for being here this evening as we celebrate In The Shadow Of The Iris' odometer hitting the 10,000 mark. What a momentous occasion. I'm all grown up now. Rebecca continues. "And to Judith, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall/jtuwliens, I'm most happy it was you who added that defining 10,000th hit. Your journal brings me such joy. Applause. Judith approaches the lectern.
"Thank you, Rebecca, for that lovely introduction and endorsement. How thrilling it is for me to be here accepting this beautiful Cuisinart Toaster. I'm honored to be your 10,000th visitor to click through your journal turnstile. On a day when my own journal odometer reads 3,154, I can only hope that my journal matures as nicely as yours has."

"I began visiting Rebecca's journal some time ago, even before she realizes. You see, what got me hooked initially was the entry of her mother playing her bagpipe in a night parade. The photograph she took at the event took some fancy footwork! I realized then that I needed to keep a close eye on the journal with a pretty name. Since then I had been silently following Rebecca's stories. Through her journal entries, I was like a ghost tagging along with her to such outtings as her mother's final oncologist appointment and dress shopping with her daughter. Over time, Rebecca's writing got even more engaging and this ghost could no longer remain silent. The ghost stepped into the physical realm with my first comment and I have been a faithful commenter ever since.
There's something captivating about writing that is thought-provoking. Besides doing just that, provoke thought, it gives the internal voice inside each of us a topic, an issue, to bat around. You know, that voice that never silences? Yeah, that one. As I see it, we can either choose to ignore the voice through self control, or act on it. Well, my lack of self control turned into loyally commenting on each entry she added. (Let's not forget the hilarious {and one of my favorites!} Black Boots, Jeans, and Police Officer episode.) Early on in my discovery of her journal, I would turn on my computer each day hoping for another submittal. Sitting on the edge of my seat, morning coffee in hand, hoping I would see another entry posted. To this day, I look forward to her words and my internal conversation that ensues.

I raise my tasty, golden brown buttered toast with homemade Choke Cherry Jam (from my family's acreage in Canada) to you, Rebecca. Thank you for provoking thought and letting J-Land walk with you on your path of tribute.
Let's all raise our bagels and toast!
Best,
Judith
