What a wonderful way to tie 2004 off with a nice little extra touch of something pretty special!! I have been so excited all day to have been tapped on the shoulder like this. I am off to celebrate this passage of time with a rowdy group of Scottish bagpipers. At the stroke of midnight they will be playing, loud and clear. It's an amazing sight, with everyone in the neighborhood holding candles, the bagpipers and drummers playing in full uniform. But most importantly will be my Mother, a bagpiper, suiting up for the first time since her surgery, playing, even if only briefly!! I get dreamy just thinking of it now.............Take Care Everyone

Hey, Rebecca, you're singing my song! Scottish bagpipers? Memories of home! Make sure that the first person across the threshold of your house after the stroke of midnight is a dark male, and he must be carrying a piece of coal - that'll bring lots of good luck - according to us Scots. Now go find a dark male. One year it was our coal black cat. That worked for us!

All these years being a bonifide Scott, and I didn't know that! I'm going to have to hit my Mom up about that little secret tonite. Hmmmm dark male huh. Ok, I'll try to knock out a bagpiper tonite to drag home :o) I already have coal, I played alittle trick on my kiddoes at Christmas this year <bad Santa Mom> LOL this is going to be a good night!

On one summer day about a year or two ago...in the late afternoon air I heard the wonderful sound of bagpipes...it was my neighbor and it was delightful! Sounds like a wonderful way to end the year! Peace, roseg

Sounds like a wonderful way to bring in the new year! I have a very strong affinity for the sound of bagpipes and know that it is in my blood....... 'Amazing Grace' on the pipes can make me cry every time. We had bagpipers at a place called Church Street Station in Olrando........ I don't think it's there any longer.
